I’m excited to kick off this new weekly tradition of highlighting the incredible writers in our community. Each week, I’ll feature a writer whose work has touched me—whether it’s through powerful words, beautiful stories, or creative expression. Our first writer, Priyal Pradhan, has a stunning poem that beautifully captures the balance between serenity and chaos. I hope it resonates with you as much as it did with me.
A day at the sea-shore
Sitting ashore,
dipping my feet,
in the soothing coolness of the sea.
I looked at the infinite blue.
a mirror,
reflecting the brilliance of the sky,
shimmering,
ricocheting,
the gilded sunshine.
Breathing in the summer breeze,
mingled with the gentle chill,
I sat;
looking at the magnificent blue,
at the serenity of its waters,
feeling,
the tranquility it evoked.
easing the turbulence
raging within me,
it caressed my soul
with a gentle touch.
instilling a deep love,
it created an ardent desire,
to soak every bit of repose
offered by its generous essence.
creating a drift of emotions,
it braided them,
into an interlace of thoughts,
Unrushed,
Gracefully.
Sitting under the warmth of the sun,
cradled with the fondle of serenity,
I despised chaos.
{A cursed antagonist.
A formidable enemy,
An imminent danger.
An inevitable truth}
Deep in my thoughts,
I did not see,
the clouds gathering over me,
rumbling,
insinuating a deluge.
I laid on the sand,
looking at them,
darkening,
frightening,
an impending gloom,
patiently waiting to unveil chaos.
Heaving with the burden,
they finally let go,
and the raindrops fell hard,
blemishing the pristine canvas of serenity.
Pattering,
rippling,
ebbing,
cresting,
they nourished the sea,
a blessing,
shrouded with chaos.
Sopping wet,
I stood up,
Brushing off the sand,
the distaste,
the impractical desire,
of an everlasting calmness.
and walked in,
contemplating
the entwined realities of the foes.
smiling,
for,
devoid of any hatred,
rekindled with respect,
and imbued with serenity,
I had found a beautiful perspective.
